We can both think and do.
We do 'the strategy stuff' - seeking out, understanding and developing with clients the most relevant, practical and useful intellectual property in the field of project management, procurement and supply management.
We review major programmes, projects, procurement functions and strategies.
We also assist organisations to implement procurement and supply excellence at strategic or operational level in order to achieve real benefits. We also work to help implement clients' major projects and programmes in many fields, from Defence to setting up new organisations, from Estates to systems development and implementation.
But we don’t forget perhaps the most important thing any consultant can do – skills transfer. So we work with our clients to educate, train and develop the skills that enable individuals (and thus their organisations) to achieve excellence.
In practical terms, the areas where we have worked successfully with clients include;
Reviews and healthchecks; Gateway reviews of programmes and projects, Procurement Capability Reviews and similar
Procurement research - 'blue-sky' thinking, research about complex and strategic issues, with particular strength in the public sector.
Benchmarking and diagnostic work - performance benchmarking or assessment of current procurement practice.
Strategic development - assisting organisations develop and implement appropriate strategies, across the whole programme and procurement area (perhaps developing a category management or supplier relationship programme) or in terms of a more focused sector or project.
Direct project support - we often provide support, QA or advice to critical programmes, procurement or outsourcing projects, ranging from a day or two of input to long-term project involvement at a working or strategic level.
Mentoring / expert advice - mentoring can be personal, perhaps providing initial support for a recently appointed Head of Function, or more ‘corporate’; for instance, membership of a recruitment panel or Project Board.
Training and development - particularly bespoke training, skills development workshops, facilitation or chairing of conferences, team meetings, brainstorming or motivational sessions.
Keynote speaking - Peter
Smith is also well known as an entertaining, stimulating and
informative speaker - whether in a formal or informal setting. He has
spoken at conferences, seminars and dinners in many countries and
settings and has received excellent feedback. Many of our other associate consultants have similar experience and skills.
